~Unconditionally~

She woke up early, yet again, at dawn.
Feeling the heaviness of shadows.
Pressing against her heart, broken and torn.
With tears that stung behind eyelids held low.
Deep inside, she sometimes felt unworthy.
Though, she would never let this show.
Very often, she saw others, as more deserving.
Brighter stars, with a more luminous glow.
A recovering perfectionist, her own worst critic.
Despite, all she’d achieved and what made her unique.
And whenever, someone complimented her.
She’d be convinced, their eyes were deceived.
She’d wrestle with her mind and heart.
Telling herself, “I’ll be happy when, I reach this goal”
Someone always better, luckier or given a head start.
Comparison, stealing, the essence of her very soul.
But then, one morning, she awoke, and to herself said.
“I know, I’ll have days, I may feel this way.
However, when I do, from now on, instead...
I shall speak more kindly to myself”
“Repeat this mantra and say”
“I accept you.
I am worthy.
Today, tomorrow...
Always and unconditionally”

This is beautiful. I love what you said about speaking more kindly to ourselves.
I remember a girl and then a woman who felt like this everyday but thanks to lots of therapy it feels like it happens less every year.
You are worthy of all the beautiful things ❤️
